Narangba go down in hard fought Grand Final Narangba AFC U14 Div 5 team were defeated in the Grand Final by Yeronga (2), going down by 35 points. A spirited Crows outfit fought hard all day but couldn’t claw back the early lead that Yeronga set up. “Yeronga has been the team to beat all year & went into the Grand Final as favourites following their 106 point win against us in the semi-final match however we were confident leading into the match of coming away with the win but it was not to be”, Coach Darren Logan said. We played hard all day but every time we got within striking distance they would kick a goal or two against us to give them the buffer they needed. Darren said he & the club are extremely proud of the effort the players put in, not only in the Grand Final but throughout the year.

Congratulations go to all the U14 Crows players & team officials for an outstanding year & they are hoping to go one better in 2009!

Result:
Yeronga (2) 10.11 – 71 def Narangba 5.6 – 36
Crows Goals: Joshua Baird (2), Kane Riley (1), Aaron Bailo (1) & Joshua Fritsch (1). more -->

They will be endeavouring to reverse the result of their semi-final defeat to Yeronga (2) who they now meet in the Grand Final played next Sunday 14 September at 9.15am, O’Callaghan Park (Oval 2), Zillmere Rd, Zillmere.

Team officials, players & parents would enjoy as much support as we can give them so please join us in cheering on The Mighty Crows. Be on the lookout for the club marquee which will be erected at the ground.

Joshua Fritsch 2008 AFLBJ Runner Up Best & Fairest On Monday night the annual AFLBJ Gala Awards night was held & Congratulations go to Joshua for his outstanding effort in achieving Runner Up in the 2008 U14 Div 5 Best & Fairest Awards which are voted on each week by the umpires. What makes this even more admirable is that Joshua missed several games throughout the year.

It's been a sensational year for Joshua with him also taking out our clubs U14 B & F award.

Well done Joshua, keep up the great work!!!

UPDATE: The club has just received the final votes for all youth players & Congratulations also got to Thomas Sharpe who came in equal 7th in the same age group & division as Joshua. Well done Thomas!

This is a great achievement for the club with having two players in the Top 10 in their division. more -->

Crows to play Preliminary Final on 7 September Last Sunday was one of those days when nothing went right, the bounce of the ball goes against you & the other team is on fire. The Crows were outplayed on the day but they fought hard right to the end with their never say die attitude. Yeronga (2) now goes straight into the Grand Final in two weeks time and will play the winner of the Narangba vs Ferny Grove (2) Preliminary Final played at 9.00am Sunday 7 September at Kedron's home ground (6th Ave, Kedron). more -->
U14 Crows Fly into the Finals
U14 Crows Fly into the Finals Our U14 Crows came 2nd on the ladder following the home & away rounds & play their first semi-final against 1st placed Yeronga 2 on Sunday 31 August at 11.45am at Yeronga's home ground.

It's a fair trip to Yeronga but if you can make the time I know Coach - Darren Logan, Team Manager - Nikki Anderson, team officials, players & parents would appreciate & enjoy the support of their team in it's quest to go straight into the grand final should they win.

We wish them all the best in the finals and know they'll do the club & themselves proud whatever the outcome.
